At Forage & Faire, our values are rooted in a deep reverence for nature, tradition, and the art of living simply. We believe in finding beauty in simplicity—in the daily rituals, the little details, and the natural world around us. Our work is a way of facilitating small, meaningful moments that connect us to the earth, to ourselves and to each other.
Every product we create is guided by intentional craftsmanship and ancestral wisdom, drawing inspiration from time-honoured practices passed down through generations. We honour the plants we work with and the people who came before us by crafting in small batches, using thoughtful methods, and prioritizing integrity at every step. For us, herbalism is not just a practice—it’s a way of life, deeply grounded in respect, care, and a belief that true wellness begins with reconnecting to the wisdom of the natural world.
No they are not, and we're proud of it! Approximately 80% of our herbs are certified organic, with the other 20% being either ethically wildcrafted or what we like to call "Uncertified Organic".
When we say "Uncertified Organic", we mean that while the herb may not have the formal certification, it's been grown and harvested using all of the same criteria and standards as a certified organic herb. Typically, when a herb is uncertified, it is because we source it from a smaller farmer or cultivator that simply doesn't care to go through the extensive process or financial obligation that it requires to obtain the green circle.
We are incredibly meticulous about our sourcing process, and source each herb individually to ensure we are getting the best herb that we possibly can. Rest assured that all of our herbs and materials, certified organic or not, are potent, pure and of the highest quality that we could get our hands on!
Questions about a specific herb? Send us a message using the form above and we'll be happy to give you the details!
Our herbs come from around the globe, but we always prioritize sourcing them locally whenever possible. For us, the most important factor is quality—we seek out the most potent, ethically harvested herbs, whether that means working with trusted local farmers or going straight to the country of origin where a plant naturally thrives.
Some herbs grow best in specific climates, and in those cases, we source directly from regions where they are cultivated sustainably and with care.
No matter where they come from, every herb we use is carefully selected, tested, and handled with integrity to ensure the best possible remedies for you.
You can find each herbs origin is listed on its product page.
We are continually working toward sourcing more herbs locally whenever possible. We believe in supporting Canadian farmers and growers, and we’re always on the lookout for partners who can cultivate herbs on a larger scale while maintaining the integrity, potency, and sustainability we stand for.
As the demand for high-quality herbal remedies grows, so does our dedication to building relationships with local producers. By working with farmers who share our values, we can strengthen our local supply chain, reduce our ecological footprint, and ensure our remedies remain as fresh and vibrant as nature intended. If you’re a grower passionate about cultivating medicinal plants, we’d love to connect!
A herbal tincture is a concentrated liquid extract made from herbs, typically using alcohol or glycerin to extract and preserve the plant’s beneficial compounds (we use a 100% organic cane alcohol). Tinctures allow you to access the medicinal properties of herbs in a bioavailable and easy-to-use form.
Tinctures are simple to take and can be used in a variety of ways:
- Drop directly under your tongue for fast, effective absorption.
- Dilute in water, tea, or juice if you prefer a milder taste.
Each tincture has a recommended dosage, which can typically be found on the bottle. However, dosage is going to vary from person to person and depends on what the intended use of the herb is.
We always recommend consulting a holistic healthcare practitioner, such as a clinical herbalist or naturopath, prior to using any new herbs.
When in doubt, start with a lower dose and adjust as needed.
Alcohol is commonly used to make herbal tinctures due to its ability to efficiently extract and preserve the active constituents of herbs. Alcohol serves as an excellent solvent, extracting a wide range of bioactive compounds and therapeutic components from the plant material.
We use a non-GMO and organic cane alcohol to ensure that the tincture is made with the highest quality alcohol available.
Per dose, the alcohol content in the tincture is extremely low however each individual should use with knowledge that the tincture does contain alcohol. We are currently working on a line of glycerin and ACV based tinctures - stay tuned!
Many of our products are safe for pregnant and breastfeeding women, but we highly recommend you speak to your primary health care provider for professional advice to determine which are safe and suitable for you.
If you are local to Abbotsford and in search of a holistic practitioner, we recommend the Fraser Birth Collaborative.
All of our products are intended for adults.
For children, we recommend consulting a healthcare practitioner prior to use and ensuring that the dosage is appropriate for the child's bodyweight.
Herbs + tinctures are best stored in an airtight container (if you're storing a tincture, just ensure the dropper is screwed back on between uses), out of direct light and at room temperature.
Tinctures do not need to be refrigerated and are shelf stable.
This was not a mistake - we purposefully do not include dosage instructions on many of our tinctures as herbal medicine is not a one size fits all practice.
It is important to consult a certified healthcare practitioner and to do your own, thorough research prior to using any new herbal products as dosage will be unique to you and your personal health history.
All of our tinctures come with ingredient listings and extraction ratios on the bottle to help you determine how much of our tinctures will work for you.
